Goal Setting Rules

I am surprised about the amount of stuff I learned about the "Goal Setting" in this program. I would like to share with you a quick/short review of "Goal Setting Rules":) Special thanks to my dear coach Abg Amirul.

-----------------------------------  1) Goal Setting Rules  --------------------------------

  1. Questions that you have to ask yourself at initial step before setting any goal:
    • Why this goal ?
    • Is it in line with your values ?
    • Is it SMART  (Specific- Measurable- Action oriented- Realistic- Time bound) ?
     2. State each goal as a positive statement.
     3. Focus on specific outcome that you are looking for.
     4. Identify obstacles and challenges.
     5. Find resources to help you achieve your goals.

P.S: My favorite notes : "Goals are there to inspire you not to beat you up!" & "Many people start. Successful people finish."

How knowing different types of personality can help us to communicate effectively?

When we are angry, sad, anxious or .... it's so easy to criticize and blame people blindly ... but is it the right way?!!!
Have you ever listened to your self talk when you are about to lose temper in relationships? Following is my previous self talk (before attending this program) when feeling there are conflicts between me and others:

"This person is terrible! I will never deal with him/her again! He makes me crazy! OMG! How rude he/she is..."

Previously, I was in the state of judgement instead of being in the state of empathy. In other words, I had tendency to criticize people without trying to know them or seeing the situation from their point of view.

Now, I am blessed by knowing that we are different. I learned that there are 4 different types of personality namely Sanguine, Melancholy, Choleric and Phlegmatic and each personality type has its own strengths and weaknesses. For instance, I know that I am Melancholy perfectionist and it's easy for me to get depressed. I learnt that I expect too much from others because of my perfectionist attitude. So, I am trying  to be more self aware and not to fall into trap of perfectionism.

Attitude of Gratitude

I just came home after my third coaching session. Everything was great and I'm so happy and full of energy now. This session, I learned many things from my dear coach  Abg Amirul and peer coaching group. I am going to share all with you but now my focus is on "attitude of gratitude".

I learned this: "Be a great giver and great receiver!"

It's very short statement but it means a lot. It means when somebody does a favor for you , you as a receiver should show your sincere gratitude. How? Great receiver looks at giver's eyes and says "THANK YOU!"
It shows we understand he/she did a favor for us and we appreciate it.

How many times you have been in this situation that you helped someone or even you complimented them but they refused or even they behaved as if you were wrong?! For example you said: "Hey! you look good today!" and the person answered : "who?! me?! I even can't go in front of mirror today! I'm so messy today!"

Or you have been so nice to someone, but his/her negative mind couldn't accept that you were sincere? How did you feel at that moments?

Although our coach  Abg Amirul  believes when we do good things for people we should not expect something in return and I'm totally agree with him , but do not forget that this is an attitude of great givers. Great givers just do good things for people without expecting anything in return but on the other hand great receivers appreciate giver's favors at least by saying this simple short but powerful statement which is "THANK YOU!"

I  learnt today whenever I'm playing a role of "giver" I have to play a role of great giver which means being nice and helpful without expecting anything from anyone.
On the other hand, when I am blessed by having kind people around me who help me and care about me, I as a receiver should play a role of great receiver by showing my sincere gratitude and saying a big "Thank You".

So, thank you to all people who helped me so far in all aspects of my life. Thank you my dear coach Abg Amirul! Thank you KaK Elin! Thank you  Sahabat Seru organizers! Thank you all for your time and attention to read my blog.

Love you all.
